Otmo Live
Alexander Whitley Dance Company
Saturday 16th Nov, 7pm & 8pm
A collaboration between Digital Body Festival and Tanz Karlsruhe, Germany, this unique event connects dancers in each location using the Goldsmiths Mocap Streamer technology, who will perform a duet despite being geographically separated.
This experimental distributed performance explores the intersection of emerging spatial technologies and traditional movement practices. Placing two dancers in different locations, the piece brings them together within a shared virtual environment.
One dancer will be at be at The Digital Body Festival in East London, while the other will ZKM Centre for Art and Media in Karlsruhe. Their 3D movement data will be captured and streamed live into Alexander Whitley Dance Company's Otmo software, where digital avatars of the dancers will meet and playfully interact through a range of patterns and formations the software generates.
