Ruth is an Associate Professor at the Centre for Dance Research, Coventry University and has over 20 years of experience in technology and interdisciplinary research within higher education and industry sectors at a national and international level. She is a member of the AHRC Peer Review College and contributes regularly to publications and journals, including the upcoming Routledge Companion to Performance and Technology. She presents at conferences: BEYOND, TEI, and MOCO.
Holding a doctorate in somatic sensing from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Gibson champions integrating movement and embodiment knowledge in developing AI and Extended Realities. A certified Skinner Releasing Technique practitioner and teacher, she fuses this dance practice with her motion capture and performance technology research.
