Where We Meet
Unwired Dance Theatre
Sunday 17th Nov, 6-8pm
What if you could hear others’ inner thoughts?
An intimate and communal experience at the intersection of dance, immersive technology and mental health.
‘Where We Meet’ is an interactive dance performance exploring themes of loneliness, body dysmorphia and anxiety. Audiences explore the space, wearing geo-located headphones which track their movement. As they move around the dancers, their ‘inner worlds’ of conflicted voices and self-reflection will be articulated through a combination of spatial audio and choreography, triggering uniquely intimate and confessional moments in real time. The immersive dance piece aims to build poetic moments of vulnerability and empathy with attendees, fostering embodied connections between character and audience, whilst raising awareness of mental health themes.

Unwired Dance Theatre makes immersive and playable experiences at the intersection of dance and technology. Unwired’s work questions our sense of empathy, especially when mediated through technology, and often explores what remote connection could look like. Using networked wearables, XR, motion capture and telematics, they like to create unique and thought-provoking experiences, with meaningful audience participation at its core.
Clemence Debaig is a dance artist, maker and creative technologist. Her work explores notions of control, empathy, and intimacy, questioning how technologically mediated interactions influence human behaviours. She is the Artistic Director of Unwired Dance Theatre and runs Unwired Studio, a digital company that helps other artists and organisations realise their creative vision with technology - such as Alexander Whitely Dance Company and Rebecca Evans/Pell Ensemble. With a background as a dancer and creative technologist - and a previous career as a UX designer - she brings a unique perspective to choreographing interactive and participatory experiences. In recent years, her work has been presented at various venues and events, including Maison de la Danse in Lyon, Camden Fringe, Ugly Duck, Kallida festival, Oxo Tower and Open Online Theatre. Clemence is also a lecturer and researcher at Goldsmiths University, focusing on motion capture techniques, digital embodiment and immersive theatre.
Livia Massarelli is a dance artist and a certified wellbeing coach. She has dedicated her career to exploring movement as a profound tool for cultivating awareness both in performers and audiences through collaboration with multidisciplinary artists and technologists. Her work has been shown internationally in venues such as The Place, Maison de la Danse (FR), CAOS (IT) and in festivals like ArteScienza (IT), TerniFestival (IT), Corpi Uscenti (IT), among others. Livia is also an academic researcher and wellbeing facilitator within dance, working with renowned companies (Avant Garde Dance, Shobana Jeyasingh, Equilibrio Dinamico, Dora Frankel Ensemble) and in higher education (guest lecturer and researcher at Rambert School, guest lecturer at English National Ballet School and others).
